Movie Soundtrack
1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCNHVMIYqiA Hedwig’s theme.
We chose Hedwig’s theme for the opening of the movie. The opening would be very eerie but very epic at the same time hence the name Epic of Gilgamesh. This song also foreshadows dark events and sad occurrences. The twinkle of music indicates an adventure ahead and keeps people wanting more. This fits perfectly because it signals adventure and the whole epic is about Gilgamesh’s adventure. The song eludes mystery and draws the viewer in.
2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_MdSu0I620 You’ve got a Friend in Me- James Taylor.
We also chose “You’ve got a friend in me” because of the friendship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu. The relationship between these two is very special because Enkidu was originally sent to challenge the great king Gilgamesh and the two ended up befriending each other. This song would play after the fight when they realize they really would like to be friends and would continue to play on their adventures leading up to the horrible encounter with Humbaba. This song would take the viewer on a journey down the friendship between the two great warriors.

This song is very intense and very fast paced. It puts the one who listens to it a very aggressive angry mood. This song would play when Enkidu and Humbaba start fighting. In the movie this would be a very intense scene to keep viewers on the edge of their chairs. The most hardcore or fast paced part of the song would be at the crucial parts of the fight and when the song kind of dies down at the end is when Humbaba would die. I thought this song was very intense fitting the scene very well.
4) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y2icHOgC5U Not Over You – Miranda Lambert
This song will play when Enkidu dies. He is originally sent to earth by the gods to fight Gilgamesh. When him and Gilgamesh fought, they ended up becoming the best of friends. This song is about losing someone very close to you and someone you love. This song would fir with the Death of Enkidu scene because it is a very slow and sorrowful song, and the scene will be very emotional and powerful, just like that of the song.
5) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEgpmMVszjM Mystical Lullaby- Artist Unknown
This music because it is a mix of multiple mystical songs I felt would be perfect to play throughout Gilgamesh’s quest to find immortality. The quest he goes on encounters many many things some of which are mystical. I figured it could get louder when Gilgamesh approaches the house of Untapishtam because he is the most mystical of all. This is the peak of his journey because this is where he finds the immortal plant and with the plant being so special the music fits perfectly.
